Bandung is the capital of West Java province in Indonesia and the country’s third largest city by population with a population of over 2½ million in the city itself, while its sprawling metropolitan area had a population of 8.6 million in 2011. Located 768 metres (2,520 ft) above sea level, approximately 140 kilometres (87 miles) south east of Jakarta, Bandung has cooler temperatures year-round than most other Indonesian cities. The city lies on a river basin surrounded by volcanic mountains. This topography provides a good natural defense system, which was the primary reason for the Dutch East Indies government’s plan to move the colony capital from Batavia to Bandung.

Listrik dari Angin, masa depan energi dunia

Energi angin di Indonesia saat ini masih sedikit yang diberdayakan. Padahal banyak sekali daerah yang potensial dibangun ladang pembangkit listrik tenaga angin. Energi angin yang begitu berlimpah itu hanya terbuang percuma tanpa menghasilkan apa-apa. Sungguh ironis disaat kita sedang krisis listrik dan energi.

Listrik dari angin bukanlah hal baru. Jenis energi ini sudah lazim digunakan dan dikembangkan di negara-negara lain. Teknologinya sudah terbukti mampu memberikan kontribusi bagi pemenuhan kebutuhan energi listrik warga negaranya.

Tengok saja negara seperti amerika serikat. Mereka mengembangkan tenaga angin di tempat-tempat yang sesuai untuk menangkap angin. Garis pantai dan dataran yang tepat bisa memberikan kontribusi hinga Ribuan Mega watt.

Bayangkan jika teknologi ini dikembangkan di sepanjang daerah pantai kita. Yang panjangnya ribuan kilometer. Tentu masalah kekurangan pasokan listrik akan teratasi. Lagi pula hanya dibutuhkan investasi awal. Sisanya adalah minimal maintenance. semoga!
